Austin Day 2

Day 2 started with a quick bike ride to the Monkey Nest. Being a cafe and deli, the Monkey Nest served coffee, tea, and different styled bean burritos. I met the barista, Kate, and she warmly welcomed me to Austin. I noticed a handful of neat photography on the walls and it sparked my curiosity into photography. I set off from there biking home to get ready to run a track workout. I made it to the track to find it heavily guarded by a tall fence and a big lock strapped to the only visible entrance. It wasn’t even a normal sized track. I need to find a go-to track for work-outs. I decided to run a brick anyways. I felt great, wearing my new Saucony super-shoes for the first time, save a small discomfort in my left soleus region. I take it I was not fully recovered after the big moving day and longer than planned run yesterday. Sometime pain is just your body telling you it’s not fully recovered.

I called an uber and went to pick up my order from IKEA. I learned a lot from Courtney, my uber driver. She even mentioned that Austin has a nudist state park. I took her advice and went to El Tacoriddo for lunch. I then biked further into town to explore more. I went to Wheatsville and met some really nice people David and Mary and I obtained more information about Austin that I could physically handle. I then biked to the target by the UT campus and got shower hooks. From there, I biked through the rain around 4 miles to the yellow bicycle, a community bike shop. I was curious about this place after seeing on their website that you can “earn-a-bike” by volunteering and working on bikes. That is right up my alley! I was disappointed to see it closed. I biked back home stopping at a few coffee places for some water breaks.

I made it home and ordered an uber to hit up target for a massive shopping spree. I got all the essentials: toilet paper, paper towels, soap, laundry detergent, coffee, trash can, lodge cast-iron etc etc. I unloaded my haul and hit the hay at around 10:30 pm. Today included a lot of biking and running in the rain. I am exhausted. Goodnight Austin, that was a proper day of adventuring.
